Frequently Asked Questions
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
Appointements are required. Same-day appointments are welcome but are based on availability. If you want to ensure your time slot, we recommend you call a day ahead for an appointment. We understand migraines, illness, and other situations are not always planned for. We will always try our best to schedule a patient if we can.
DO I NEED TO ARRIVE EARLY?
Your appointment time is your arrival time. No need to arrive early.
WHAT IS IV HYDRATION?
IV Hydration is a low-risk procedure of administering vitamins & medications directly into the bloodstream. IV hydration is effective because the procedure bypasses the GI tract, delivering vitamins & nutrients to all major organs with a 100% absorption rate. Administered by a registered nurse, the effects are felt immediately and can be felt up to one week after infusion.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM IV HYDRATION?
Everyone! We want you to feel as good as we do! For combating altitude sickness, hangovers, pre or post-surgery, gastric sleeves, minor colds & flu or athletic preparation/recovery, getting an IV is a smart choice.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET AN IV DRIP?
How often you get a drip depends on your health goals, needs, and dietary and fluid intake. Many athletes receive a drip once a week for muscle recovery and hydration. Most clients use IV drip services as the need arises, such as with migraines, hangovers, illness, and dehydration. Average clients who enjoy routine benefits come in every 3-4 weeks.
WHICH IV IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Everyone is different, and we love that! It truly depends on your goals. All drips address hydration, but we have targeted drips for:
Energy, Weight loss, Joint Pain, Immunity, Migraines, Hangovers, Skin Health. All infusions are custom-mixed, we can discuss your needs at your appointment.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Paperwork for your first appointment takes about 5-10 minutes. This paperwork is also needed once again at the beginning of a new year. Consent forms are needed at every subsequent appointment. Once an IV is placed, the drip itself takes an average of 45 minutes. The infusion time depends on anatomy, IV catheter size, patient movement, etc. Please accommodate your appointment for at least 1 hour.
If coming in a group, please consider about 10 additional minutes per person for IV insertion time.
HOW QUICKLY WILL I FEEL THE EFFECTS?
Because we’re bypassing your GI tract, the effects are typically felt within the hour of treatment. Some of our treatments are designed for long-term benefits (cold & flu defense, athletic preparation/muscle recovery, etc.), which are felt from the physical state they provide, not necessarily an immediate “boost”. Medications have an onset within 30 minutes. Please remember this is not a fix-all solution, and the effects are not permanent.
WHAT ABOUT B-12 SHOTS?
We also have B-12 shots for $25 each. You can get them every two weeks. B-12 is needed for your cells to make DNA, by giving them sufficient B-12 your body doesn’t have to work as hard and gives you more energy.
We also offer LipoPlus (B12+M.I.C), B Complex, Glutathione and Vitamin D IM.
WILL I SEE A DOCTOR?
While our medical director is a blast to hang out with, he works out of state due to his obligations as an anesthesiologist. Our PA is in the office several days a week and on call other days. If you wish to speak with him, give us a day to coordinate with his schedule. You can, however, always consult with the nurse.
SHOULD I CONSULT MY DOCTOR FIRST?
Our treatments are elective, so it’s not a requirement to have a doctor’s note prior to treatment. You are welcome to consult with your primary care physician if you have any questions.
CAN ANYONE GET AN IV OR BOOSTER?
While most of our customers are eligible, IVita reserves the right to withhold treatment if we feel it would create complications or concerns. Kidneys and cardiac history can be contraindicated for treatment, so please discuss any history.
SPECIAL POPULATIONS
IS IV THERAPY LEGAL FOR ATHLETES?
While many of our clients are athletes, if you are sponsored or have concerns, we advise that you check with your coach, sponsor, or governing body before treatment. Opiates, enhancing drugs, and other illegal substances are not given in our clinic.
IS IV THERAPY SAFE IN PREGNANCY?
IV therapy, also known as intravenous therapy, is generally considered safe during pregnancy. It is a medical treatment that involves delivering fluids, medications, and nutrients directly into the bloodstream through a vein. IV therapy can be beneficial for pregnant women who may be experiencing dehydration, severe morning sickness, or other medical conditions that require immediate intervention. However, we are not familiar with your medical history. We recommend you get approval from your OBGYN prior to treatment.
CAN IN BRING MY CHILD IN FOR IV TREATMENT?
Small children are not able to receive IV treatment. We do require a minimum age of 15 for an infusion. Minors do need to have a parent sign consent forms. We can e-mail forms to a parent ahead of time if they cannot attend the appointment.
